Grown at around 1,600 metres above sea level in Mbala, northern Zambia, Mount Sunzu sits beneath the country's highest mountain, surrounded by the region's distinctive mountainous landscape. Established on previously abandoned farmland, the farm has developed into a modern specialty coffee operation, overseeing everything from cultivation to processing and grading on-site. With favourable growing conditions, careful farming and a focus on quality, Mount Sunzu is helping bring greater recognition to Zambia as an emerging specialty coffee origin
Process - Washed
This coffee was processed at Mount Sunzu’s own wet and dry mill. Following selective hand-picking, the ripe cherries were floated, pulped and dry fermented for 24 hours, using naturally occurring yeasts and bacteria in 1,000-litre tanks without the addition of water.
After fermentation, the coffee was spread across raised drying beds and covered overnight, drying over a total of 10 days. Once dried, it was hulled, graded and carefully hand-sorted at Mount Sunzu’s dry processing facility.
Grind Information
While we always recommend grinding your coffee fresh at home to achieve the perfect grind size for your specific brewing equipment, we understand this isn’t always practical. That’s why we offer a range of grind options aimed at delivering the best possible results across a variety of machines and brewing methods. However, due to the wide range of equipment available, we can’t guarantee that our pre-ground options will be perfectly matched to every individual setup.
