Who Is Proper Roast.
I've always had a passion for seeking out great specialty coffee—whether it was hunting down hidden coffee shops or sampling new single origins.
In 2024, I had to hit pause on my usual fitness hobby because of a heart condition. So naturally, I decided to start a caffeine-related business. Probably not what the cardiologist had in mind.
What began as a way to stay busy turned into a full-on obsession with roasting. That’s how *Proper Roast* came to life—a mix of curiosity, creativity, and a love for coffee.

How we roast.
We roast all our coffee on a state-of-the-art electric Bellwether Roaster, known for its precision, consistency, and sustainability. Unlike gas-powered machines, the Bellwether produces zero emissions, offering a cleaner, more environmentally friendly roast. Its smart technology ensures precise control over roast profiles, bringing out the best in every bean.
Because it uses electric heat instead of gas, the Bellwether eliminates combustion byproducts like CO₂ and nitrogen oxides that can affect flavor.
This cleaner process highlights each bean’s natural characteristics, resulting in a brighter, cleaner cup with balanced, complex flavors.
