Established in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Rutaganda Gaston and Mukantwaza Laeticia, Rwamatamu is a family-owned coffee producer in Rwanda’s Western Province. Located in a region known for its rich volcanic soils, high elevations and favourable growing conditions, the farm works with local smallholder farmers to produce quality specialty coffee. Through careful cultivation and processing, Rwamatamu showcases the distinctive character of Rwandan coffee.

At Rwamatamu’s Mbare washing station, the cherries were spread across raised drying beds and hand-sorted to remove any defects before being left in the sun for 24 hours. They were then gathered into heaps and covered with shade netting for 48 hours of dry fermentation. Finally, the cherries were spread out again to continue drying, a process that took approximately 33 days to complete.

Grind Information

While we always recommend grinding your coffee fresh at home to achieve the perfect grind size for your specific brewing equipment, we understand this isn’t always practical. That’s why we offer a range of grind options aimed at delivering the best possible results across a variety of machines and brewing methods. However, due to the wide range of equipment available, we can’t guarantee that our pre-ground options will be perfectly matched to every individual setup.
